Football prediction for Barcelona – Rayo Vallecano

Barcelona start the new 2022/23 season with high hopes. The Catalans made some impressive signings and now the fans are dreaming of something big. Players like Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Franck Kessie, Jules Kounde and Andreas Christensen all joined Los Cules.

Last week Barca won the friendly trophy Joan Gamper with a spectacular 6-0 against the Mexican side Pumas. Robert Lewandowski scored his first goal but now he will have the chance to do it an official match as well.

Most likely Xavi Hernandez will put Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha in attack as they can provide huge danger on the wings. Meanwhile Franck Kessie could be in contention to start with Sergio Busquets and Pedri in midfield. Gavi and Frenkie De Jong are among the options for the head coach as well. Gerard Pique should have a lesser role this season while Jules Kounde and Andreas Christensen could be starting alongside Ronald Araujo in defense.

Rayo Vallecano approach this visit to the Catalan capital as complete underdogs. But this could only work in their favor. The head coach Andoni Iraola will try to use position as an advantage.

On the transfer market Rayo decided to sign some free agents. Unai Lopez, Salvi Sanchez and veteran goalkeeper Diego Lopez all joined the club. Meanwhile Atletico Madrid’s Sergio Camello and Alaves’ Florian Lejeune arrived on loan.
